Perfect Hatch Bucktail is a natural deer tail used for tying everything from Clouser Minnows and Lefty's Deceivers to bass bugs, steelhead patterns, and saltwater streamers. It comes in a range of natural and dyed colors, with longer fibers suited to larger streamer patterns and shorter sections useful for smaller flies.
The biggest consideration with this bucktail is consistency. Some tiers have received tails with long, usable hair and were very pleased with the quality, while others found the individual tails smaller than expected with shorter fibers that limited their use on larger patterns. Since natural bucktail varies from deer to deer, some variation is unavoidable. We do our best to select quality materials for every order, and if you're looking for especially long hair for specific patterns, we're happy to check current inventory when possible.
