Country Haven Lodge - Miramichi River - October 2008

Country Haven Lodge offers fly fishing on one of the most notable Atlantic salmon rivers in the world, the Miramichi. The lodge is nestled on 100 acres of private land along the river. They offer comfortable 4 star lodging and delicious home cooked meals. Satellite TV and internet access is avaible for those who need to stay in touch. Country Haven is located approximately 2 miles from the Village of Blackville and 20 miles from the City of Miramichi.

Seasons:
Spring - April 15th - June 1st
Summer - June 15th - October 15th

The Fishing:
At Country Haven it's just you, the river and the King of Fish. Everything you require is provided. You will be picked up at local major airports (Moncton, Fredericton, Miramichi, Halifax) and transported to the lodge on the banks of the beautiful Main Southwest Miramichi, where you can fish private and open waters with experienced local guides who will take you to the best fishing spots. Country Haven is also located within 25 minutes of 6 other salmon rivers. They work closely with 3 other fishing lodges having access to each other fishing pools. It is your chance to discover why the greatest baseball player - and one of the best fishermen of all time - Ted Williams, has made this area his summer home for over 30 years.

Spring Fishing - Spring salmon fishing commences the 15th of April and continues until around the last of May . You can expect plenty of action at this time of year with fishermen sometime taking 10 to 15 a day. When you have had all the action you can handle for one day. You can relax on the verandah and watch others challenge the mighty Atlantic salmon. In May and early June we have a good run of sea run brookies and shad, where you can also try your hand.

Summer Fishing - Summer salmon runs from around mid June until the 15th of October. In June one of the world's largest run of salmon begins on the Miramichi and continues until late September when a new surge of fall arrivals continue to join them. This fall run are usually the largest of fish. Some of them well over 30 lbs. Throughout the summer and fall we also do an excellent canoeing and fishing day trip. We canoe approximately 10 miles of the Miramichi River, stopping along the way to fish some of the best salmon pools on the river.
